Lure Coursing

The first time I saw Kaba chase the plastic bags (aka the lure), at the ZoiBoyz Ranch in Peyton, CO was the most amazing sight.  To see a dog do what they were born to do was incredible.

Kaba’s Career Highlights:

  • 2008: AKC Junior Courser in Peyton, CO & AKC Senior Courser in Oklahoma City, OK
  • 2009: AKC Field Champion in Columbia, Kentucky
  • 2009: ASFA Field Champion in Boswell, Oklahoma at the ASFA II
  • 2010: Kaba represented the Pharaohs in the Gillette Stake at the ASFA II in Lawrence, Kansas.  He tied the greyhound, but did not win the runoff.  A month later the greyhound was declared ineligible.
  • 2011: ASFA Best in Field and ASFA Lure Courser of Merit
  • 2012: ASFA Best in Field
  • 2014: ASFA Best in Field
  • 2015: ASFA Lure Courser of Merit 2 in Falcon, CO and ASFA Veteran Field Champion in Seattle, WA.
  • 2018: Earned enough points for ASFA Veteran Lure Courser of Merit but not enough placements.  Kaba retired himself in August.

Agility

We started in Agility in 2008 and were kicked out of class after 3 weeks because we were told that Pharaoh Hounds can’t do agility and we would never get a title.  Well, it took us 4 years and we finally earned our first title: Novice Agility Jumper Preferred. Finding our rhythm and learning to ‘dance’ together propelled our team forward.

Kaba’s Career Highlights:

  • 2012: AKC Novice Agility Jumper Preferred, AKC Novice Agility Preferred, AKC Open Agility Jumper Preferred, AKC Open Agility Preferred
  • 2013: AKC Excellent Agility Jumper Preferred, AKC Agility FAST Novice Preferred
  • 2014: AKC Master Excellent Jumper Preferred, and first PACH points!! AKC Agility Excellent Preferred
  • 2015: AKC Novice Agility Jumper, AKC Master Agility Preferred, and more PACH points!
  • 2016: A few more PACH points.
  • 2018: February at the National Western Complex we had our last run, in Time 2 Beat.  He ended his career with 10 qualifying runs and 78 points in T2B, and 54 PACH points.  We were invited 3 times to the National Agility Championship as the Top Dogs in Pharaoh Hounds, and competed one time.  We treasured every single run.
